Privacy Policy

The short version: Fave AI only processes data to provide and improve the service. We never sell your data to third parties. You are always in control of what you share with us.
1. Who we are
Fave AI ("we", "us", "our") operates the Fave AI Chrome extension and mobile applications, and the website at faveai.app. Our product helps users identify and purchase products they see in online videos.

2. Data we collect
Data you provide directly
- Email address — if you sign up for the app waitlist or create an account (optional)
- Account information — if you create an account, we collect your email and any profile details you provide
Data collected automatically when you use the extension
- Video frames — when you click the Fave button, a still image is captured from the paused video and sent to our servers for product identification. See Section 4 for details on how frames may be stored.
- Scan results — the products identified, confidence scores, and categories returned by our AI model
- Video metadata — the YouTube video ID and title of the video being watched at the time of a scan
- Extension version — for compatibility and debugging purposes
- Error logs — if a scan fails, we log the error type, timestamp, and extension version. No image data is included in error logs.
- Interaction data — which buy links you click, which products you interact with, and general usage patterns within the extension
Data we do not collect
- Your general browsing history or URLs outside of YouTube
- Any data from websites other than those where the extension is active
- Payment information (handled entirely by third-party processors)
- Precise location data
3. How we use your data
We use the data we collect to:
- Provide the service — identify products in video frames and return results to your browser
- Improve identification accuracy — analyse scan results and model performance to improve our AI (see Section 5)
- Power scan history — allow you to view and revisit your past scans within the extension (see Section 4)
- Personalise your experience — surface more relevant products based on your scan history and click patterns
- Send product updates — if you have opted in, notify you of new features or the mobile app launch
- Provide customer support — diagnose and resolve issues you report
- Operate affiliate programmes — track clicks and purchases for cashback and affiliate commission purposes
- Comply with legal obligations — retain records as required by applicable law
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising purposes unrelated to Fave AI.
4. Scan history and frame storage
Fave AI may offer a scan history feature that lets you revisit products you have previously identified. To power this feature, we may store:
- The video frame captured at the time of the scan
- The scan result (product name, brand, confidence score)
- The timestamp and video source of the scan
Where scan history is enabled, frames are stored securely and are only accessible to you. You can delete your scan history at any time from within the extension or your account settings.
Where scan history is not enabled or you have not opted in, frames are processed and discarded immediately after the scan result is returned. They are never stored.
5. Algorithm accuracy and improvement
To improve the accuracy of our product identification model, we may use anonymised scan data — including the video frame, the AI result, and the confidence score — for internal testing and model evaluation.
Before using any frame for this purpose, we apply the following safeguards:
- Frames are reviewed only by Fave AI team members or contracted evaluators under confidentiality agreements
- Frames are not linked to your identity — they are reviewed in isolation without any user identifiers attached
- Frames used for accuracy testing are deleted after evaluation and are never used to train third-party AI models
- You may opt out of contributing your scan data for accuracy improvement at any time in your extension settings

6. Third parties
Fave AI works with the following third-party services:
- OpenAI — video frames are sent to OpenAI's GPT-4o Vision API for product identification. Under our API agreement, frames are not used to train OpenAI's models. See openai.com/privacy.
- Cloudflare — our infrastructure runs on Cloudflare Workers and Pages. Cloudflare may log standard request metadata. See cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
- Amazon Associates and other affiliate networks — buy links generated by Fave AI may include affiliate tracking codes. Purchases made through these links are subject to Amazon's and other retailers' privacy policies.
- Analytics providers — we may use privacy-respecting analytics tools to understand how the extension is used. These tools do not receive personally identifiable information.
7. Data retention
- Frames (no scan history) — discarded immediately after processing, never stored
- Frames (scan history enabled) — retained until you delete them or close your account
- Scan results and metadata — retained for as long as your account is active, or up to 2 years after your last use
- Error logs — automatically deleted after 30 days
- Email address (waitlist) — retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion
- Account data — retained until you delete your account. Deletion requests are processed within 30 days.
8. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Deletion — ask us to delete your data
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
- Opt out of accuracy testing — disable your scan data being used for model improvement in extension settings
- Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time

9. Children
Fave AI is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has used the extension or app, contact us and we will take appropriate action promptly.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy as our product evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page and, where required by law, notify you by email or through the extension. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
